The most common problems capturing video and audio streams
Problem getting hidden stream URL
If you can't find a stream URL, please read the following FAQ:
How to get the URL of a media stream.
Please don't confuse stream URLs with metafile URLs. Metafile is a simple text file (such as .ASX, .RAM, .SMIL) that leads to an actual stream or to another metafile. Some media stream recorders can't postprocess metafiles to get stream URL(s) from them, so you have to find a stream URL using a URL finder or a simpe text editor. Otherwise you may fail to capture your video or audio stream.
Video stream recorder problem capturing a stream
Let's suppose you were able to find a correct hidden stream URL and you have some problem capturing the corresponding media stream.
First of all make sure your video stream recorder supports the protocol (http, rtsp, mms, pnm,...) and stream format (Windows Media, Real Video/Real Media/Real Audio, Quick Time, Flash Video, Nullsoft video,...) used in a broadcast you want to record.
Second of all make sure you use the latest version of your stream recorder. Also try several stream recorders.

Streaming video recording hint
WM Recorder and Replay Media Catcher together can record the majority of streaming video available in the Internet. Besides they can record Shoutcast MP3 radio stations and Flash MP3 audio streams. Both programs are shareware so you may use their demo versions for free to test whether a stream you have problem with is recordable or not. Both programs can record streaming audio/video automatically so the only thing you have to do is to start recording and then (only then) open a web-page with your stream and play it. Please read the user guides before using the programs.
Please note that there are audio/video streams that the above mentioned programs don't support. But in most cases these programs will be able to tell you whether the stream is recordable or not.
