Some stream recorders allow you to enter a username and password. Others can or will prompt for a username and password.

The majority of stream recorders allow you to have a username and a password in a URL, like in the following example:

mms://username:password@sitename.com/directory/filename.asf
rtsp://username:password@sitename.com/directory/filename.rm

If you enter login and password and won't be able to download the stream anyway, try to include login and password in the URL.

Please note that currently there is no software that can record all password protected streams. Try the latest versions of several programs before asking us a question.

In case of non-recordable streams you may use

• Screen capture software to record any screen activity and save it to a file on your hard disk (some programs allow you to record audio as well as video)
• Direct audio recording software to record any sound produced by your sound card.
