RM Recorder works by capturing streaming video or audio sent to Replay Player. RM Recorder does not violate any of the provisions of the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act), and is 100% legal to use for personal use of recordings. RM Recorder can record Real™ streaming video and audio (.RM, .RA, .RMVB) streamed through the following protocols:
RM Recorder can find the URL of a stream played in your RealPlayer (RealOne Player) so you don't have to worry about .RAM, .SMI, .SMIL and .RPM metafiles used to redirect to actual RealMedia and RealAudio streams (.RA, .RM, .RMVB).
RM Recorder can NOT record:
- Content protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM). Such content can be recorder using Screen capture software only.
- Windows Media Player streams (See WM Recorder for more).
RM Recorder monitors the data traffic of your browser searching for recordable files. When any of the supported file types is detected the URL (Internet address) and the file name are displayed. You need to click the RECORD button to start recording the file shown in the FILE / URL window.
